Premier of Oats
In the early 90’s a Christian pop rock band was formed known as The Waiting, founded by local brothers Brad and Todd Olsen. Todd, who grew up in and lives in Lilburn, made arrangements for one of the band’s first gigs to be at Lilburn Daze, the annual Arts and Crafts Festival held in Lilburn City Park. The band would be part of the entertainment lineup at the festival and it turned out to be the launch of an amazing run for the band. In the wake of that performance they went on to sign with a major record label, had several number one songs on radio nationally, released several albums and toured the country for a decade. As the members grew older and some of them married and settled down the band came off the road and parted ways. Todd is now coming back with a new general market alternative band which is called Oats - his childhood nickname. They have decided to have their Atlanta area debut at the 46th annual Lilburn Daze at 1 PM on the stage to kick off a “second act” as it was the starting point for the beginning of Todd's musical career.

Halloween Safety for Chaperoning Adults
Halloween is a time of ghosts, ghouls and goblins, candy, playing dress up, and the smiles on children’s faces. And we all know what we should do to keep our childran safe....but did you know, parents, that if you are our there with your kids, there are things that you can do to stay safe too! Here are 6 tips to help:
- Plan your routes in advance to avoid getting lost or becoming a target.
- Use a high powered flashlight. Stay well lit so your kids can see you and use it to lead the way.
- Don't Trick or Treat after 9:30 pm.
- So drivers can see you, put reflective tape or festive Halloween stickers on your arms or legs.
- Try to walk on sidewalks or established paths.
- Pin your contact information (name, address, phone) on the inside of your child's costume in case you get separated. And do the same to yourself.
Stay safe and have a Happy Halloween!
